Friday morning I went to work with some leaking problem
(remember to do kegels). Around 10 I started having some lower back pains but
nothing I couldn’t handle. Around noon some light contractions started. I sent
DH a text to let him know what I was feeling and to be prepared when he goes to
work and I will stay at work until I was off at 6pm.
After a while the back pain increased and so did the contractions
but they were still manageable when I told little breaks. Around 230 or 3 the
contractions were 4-5 minutes apart and very strong with increase back pain. I
had to stop what I was doing just to breathe through them. 330 I finally said
something to my bosses and told me to take a sit and rest. I tried that but it
didn’t work 4pm came the store manager came by and called DH for me to let him
know I was labor. DH took over an hour to get to my job (rush hour plus rain).
He picked me up and went 5 minutes down the street to the hospital.
By then my contractions increased to 2-3 minutes apart and
lasting over a minute. We checked in and I was requesting the epidural (was
going to try natural but the back pain got to me). Took a while to get but when
I did it felt like I was walking on clouds. The checked me and I was 2cm
dilated and 90% effaced. They took my vitals and I had a slight fever so they
started me on antibiotics to be safe.
They checked me and did vitals about every hour. I was
making little progress dilating but my temperature kept rising. Around 1030-45
I was only 4 cm dilated and LO had an increase in heart rate. They did the
internal monitor to get more accurate readings of her HR. Another half hour
passed and I still had a fever and LO base line was higher than normal and her
heart rate was in the 180-190 range.
Because of my fever not going down, the increased heart
rate, and making little progress they decided to do an emergency c-section. At
11:51 pm 8/31/2012 Cesarè Addison was born. She was 7 lbs and 2 oz and 20
inches long. DH got to hold her for a few minutes but then they had to take her
back to special care to start on antibiotics and do blood work due to my fever.
She started off on a 48 hr antibiotic until they got some
results back. So I didn’t have a chance to hold or feed her that night. I still
had a fever and was put on 2 or 3 more antibiotics. On Saturday I finally got a chance to feed her but was
having trouble (she started favoring the bottle and fault the boob).
Her blood work finally came back and it showed signs that
she was fighting an infection at some point in time but there were no bacteria
growth in her cultures and no signs that she is physical sick (good thing they
started the antibiotics early). With that they decided that she has to stay for
the week to finish out her antibiotics. They did cultures on the placenta my
side didn’t grow anything but her side had something growing. So they believe I
might have had a small break in my water (they couldn’t detect AF the day
before tho) and that lead to her having a high heart rate.
The only time we have with her right now is when she comes
out for feedings (She’s going great with a nipple shield) and it’s the best. I
am just so in love with her. I cannot wait until she comes home with us.
